Sadly, the last VC10 visited Hannover Airport on January 20, 2012 and the last L-1011 departed in the evening of February 23, 2014. Both aircraft types were in service with the Royal Air Force but are taken out of service by now.

NASA's flying infrared telescope did some touch and go's at Hannover Airport today. SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy) is a joint German-US space science project and is in service since 2010. The modified Boeing 747 SP (Reg.: N747NA) is carrying a 2.5 metre telescope and performs astronomical observations high above the disturbance of earth's atmosphere.
On December the 7th, 2014 LX-VCE was the first Boeing 747-8 ever to visit Hannover Airport.
